And what exactly did you expect from the students? They have been crying out for a policy to solve the problem of healthcare and yet you politicians sit on your comfortable seats of authority and do nothing about it. Them cheering this on is exactly what the country would do in response to your corrupt politics🤷♂️
Facile posturing. Excusable as immaturity--in the case of undergrads. But any faculty member joining in that self-indulgent posing needs to do some self-review.
The Sidechat post about the contest was clearly a joke … Relying on a few online posts that fit this narrative and saying the joy was greater than our tree writing ceremony is lazy journalism aimed at fitting into media narratives that make our school look bad. If you try to talk to these people you will find that they hold a much more nuanced view than you might think.
The institution has lost the plot, and many who work there, teach there, and purportedly study there, are beyond hope. If I saw “Columbia” on a CV now, my first instinct would be to “avoid”.
It would be nice to magically lock all those celebrating in a room and release them only when they have a full design for a financially sustainable and equitable national health plan. Send in all the resource materials they need.

I’m confused. I thought Obamacare solved all of the U.S. health care issues.
Very distressing.

Just because they're at Columbia doesn't mean they're the brightest students.

Who says Columbia Students are the brightest?
Just close the university - convert it to affordable housing
